No one can go back in time to change what has happened. So work on your present to make yourself a wonderful future. - author unknown

Happy New Year! We are excited to begin the new year with open hearts and minds. What better Quest to begin the year with than exploring the human body. We began our first week learning about our cells and DNA. It’s been an exciting journey through the body thus far and we can’t wait to continue our exploration.

Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life's coming attractions. ― Albert Einstein

Welcome to session 5! Heroes returned from the holiday break rested and ready to jump into 2021. This session, heroes will become engineers and design prototypes of bridges to present to the Trilith family. On Friday, heroes conducted an empathy interview with Mr. Rob Parker, President of The town at Trilith. He was able to give them the vision for the bridge as well as the parameters they must adhere to.

Our Storytelling for this session is to make Stop Motion videos. Heroes have already completed 2 challenges, making 10 sec stop motion reels. I must say, I was impressed. This was many of our heroes' first time doing something like this, and for those who had done one before, jumped right in to be mentors for their fellow travelers. The creativity and imagination used to create these videos was amazing, and the final products have been spectacular.

I’m thrilled our Elementary Studio will have the opportunity to show this side of themselves through our Quest, as we solve a real world problem for our very own community. They are our Future!

This week was the launch of a new session, a new quest, and a new year. A cool feature of a self-paced school is that learners can "level up" to the next Studio as soon as they finish their Badge Plan. So, this session, we welcomed a new learner from the Elementary Studio and bid farewell to three heroes who went to High School!

Our new quest, the Golf Cart Quest, saw heroes beginning to work on expanding the multi-use path system in Fayetteville and connecting it to Peachtree City. They analyzed previous drafts of the Master Plan for the path system and interviewed the Director of Economic Development for the city of Fayetteville, David Rast. They will work in teams to build a proposal for the path expansion and compete for the chance to pitch their designs to the City Council.

Welcome to 2021 at The Forest School High School!
2021 has begun and we are ecstatic and hopefully for the possibilities of what the new year will bring. This session we began with the Golf Cart Quest. During this session, heroes take on the career of an architect as they work with the Fayetteville City Council to plan and develop a way to connect the Peachtree City and newly created Fayetteville golf cart path.

Heroes continue to build their storytelling skills as they become graphic novelists and begin building their own graphic novels that will be published. This first week, learners brainstormed numerous ideas through a walk and talk activity.

In addition, heroes learned and dissected the topic of “Juveniles being charged as adults”. They created a new system different from the current system, built a 3D model of when the prefrontal lobe is fully developed, and created a 10 step plan for reparations for the family of the crime.

Most importantly, the high school heroes inherited a bunny named Cheesecake from the Spark Studio. He has been welcomed with open arms. Looking forward to next week and continuing to build the Fayetteville path plan.
