Session 7 Week in Review - Week 32

Zoom Gatherings

Some highlights from Zoom Gatherings this week included:

  • Monday: Monday, Anna led a launch that had learners discussing how to handle situations where someone you work with is doing something wrong, and when it’s right to speak up.

  • Tuesday: Tuesday, Reyan led a launch about video games, and prompted learners to reflect on the pros and cons of video games, and evaluate which games might be more harmful than helpful.

  • Wednesday: Wednesday, we kicked off a new Skill-Builder series on Mastery Credits & Practicals. We began with the end in mind by looking at the Mastery Transcript and discussing what it is, how it’s used, and why it matters. Then we went back to the start and gave an overview on Mastery Credits, Practicals, and setting up a Mastery Transcript. We will dive deeper into each in the weeks to come.

  • Thursday: Thursday, our Young Changemaker launch focused on Ali Wright, a young swimmer in New York who offered free swim classes to those who needed them. Learners discussed what it means to pay it forward when you have the ability, knowledge, or skill to do something that others may not, and whether or not it's our responsibility to do so.

Week 32 Highlights

This week was full of meaningful milestones, leadership, and learners making their mark in unique and impactful ways:

  • All Coursework Complete: A huge congratulations to Lucia Rivas for finishing all of her Forest School coursework! This is a major milestone and a reflection of overcoming challenges, effort, ownership, and excellence.

  • Learner Voices Leading: Shoutout to Reyan and Anna for sharing their unique perspectives in their learner-led launches. These moments continue to enrich our studio with diverse thinking and meaningful discussion.

  • Real-World Impact: Our Fall Creek learners are taking action through a collective service project, building enrichment equipment for their local dog park. This is servant leadership in action identifying a need and working together to meet it.

  • Socratic Season Complete: Congratulations to Annie for finishing all of her Socratic launches for the year! Her determination and willingness to lead conversations have helped her finish strong.

  • Graduation Milestone + Full Ride: A big shoutout to Shriya for completing all of her graduation requirements and for earning a full-ride scholarship to Wayne State University! 🎉

As we move closer to the end of the year, it’s incredible to see learners stepping fully into their capabilities: leading, creating, and making a difference both inside and outside the studio.
