Zoom Gatherings

Some highlights from Zoom Gatherings this week included:

  • Monday: Monday’s Community Builder was facilitated by Ayub, who led a school-wide game called Mafia.

  • Tuesday: Tuesday’s launch was facilitated by Jovanni, who led a Socratic discussion about the pressures teen athletes face to specialize.

  • Wednesday: Wednesday’s Skill-Builder focused on the last learning modality: Submit. Guides demonstrated best practices for submitting work in Headrush.

  • Thursday: Thursday’s Young Changemaker’s launch was inspired by Chris Punsalan, and centered around discussions on who and what dictates success.

Week 19 Highlights

This week was filled with meaningful milestones as learners stepped into new seasons of growth and opportunity:

  • Bridging Into High School: A big congratulations to Jovanni and Tanisha for officially bridging up into High School this session! Both have pushed through challenges, taken ownership of their learning, and shown the perseverance needed for this next phase. We’re excited to watch their journeys unfold.

  • An Extraordinary Honor: Shoutout to Amara for her acceptance to Spelman College and for earning one of Spelman’s full-tuition Striker Scholarships! This is a remarkable achievement that reflects years of dedication, leadership, and excellence.

  • College Acceptances to Celebrate: Congratulations to Tai on her acceptances to University of Northern Colorado and Fort Lewis College! We’re proud of the focus and follow-through she’s shown throughout the application process.

Weeks like this remind us why self-directed learning matters; learners are not only growing academically, but stepping confidently into who they are becoming. Well done, FSO!
