Session 3 Week in Review - Week 11

Zoom Gatherings

We began the week with a new Community-builder called Guiding Principles, where each group (or council) had to come up with and agree upon five principles that all of mankind must follow. It was really fun to hear what each group came up with, and what they considered important on a global scale. Tuesday’s launch was designed and facilitated by one of our learners, Nebhan, and his launch focused on whether or not AI should be removed from society and the pros and cons of that decision. Wednesday’s Skill Builder focused on the Analyze modality, where learners went through strategies and ideas on how to respond to the given challenge with excellence. Thursday was yet another young change-maker launch, inspired by Michael Sayman, a son of an immigrant who faced challenges with entering the workforce as a teen and child of immigrant parents.

Some highlights from Zoom Gatherings this week included:

  • Great collaboration in groups as they decided what principles should govern the world

  • Thoughtful responses and conversations in both Socratic launches

  • Some really great examples of how learners analyze

  • Learners continuing to practice and uphold our Studio Contract

Week 11 Highlights

This week, learners showed incredible focus and follow-through across every area of the studio!

  • Momentum Building: Learners are making real progress in Quest, Civ, and Story Arts badges. Many are on track to showcase finished badges at the Session 3 Exhibition - a testament to their growing consistency and ownership.

  • Greenlighting in Action: Shoutout to Cadence and Lucia, who have officially begun greenlighting learner submissions, and to Ayub for being an absolute rock star by reviewing all remaining September work!

  • Check Your Notifications: Learners, please remember to check your Headrush notifications regularly so you don’t miss approvals or requests for revisions. Staying on top of these updates helps keep your badges moving smoothly toward completion.

  • Leadership & Engagement: Congratulations to Aziza for joining the Greenlighting Committee! We’re excited to see your leadership in helping uphold FSO’s standards of excellence.

  • Learner-Led Launch Spotlight: Huge shoutout to Nebhan for leading a super engaging learner-led launch this week. These learner-led moments continue to be a highlight of our studio culture!

The energy, collaboration, and determination learners are showing this session are inspiring. We can’t wait to see all they’ll have to share at Exhibition!

Family Conversation Starters:

  • Which badge are you most excited (or nervous) to showcase at Exhibition?

  • What does it feel like to have your work greenlit—or to greenlight someone else’s?

  • How can checking Headrush notifications regularly help you stay on track?

  • What stood out to you in Nebhan’s learner-led launch this week?

How does being part of a committee or launch help build leadership skills?
