Session 3 Week in Review - Week 10

Zoom Gatherings

On Monday, learners kicked off with a creative “Humanity Museum” challenge: playing aliens, curating artifacts from Earth’s remains and debating which three best represent humanity. Tuesday was a hilarious Socratic scenario had learners strategizing how to outsmart rogue clones of themselves, sparking clever and funny solutions. Wednesday’s Skill Builder focused on the Discuss modality, where learners practiced thoughtful responses to Dystopia Quest prompts and shared tips for strong writing and grammar. On Thursday, we were inspired by a young change-maker’s moral dilemma, as learners explored how they’d balance speaking up for what’s right versus staying silent to stay safe.

Some highlights from Zoom Gatherings this week included:

  • Learners working together to collectively prioritize and choose what to present to the whole Studio

  • Great ideas and thoughts shared during Socratic discussions

  • Solid takeaways on how to improve the excellence in learner’s writing on discussion board tasks

Week 10 Highlights

Learners have hit the ground running this session with focus, ownership, and creative energy!

  • Strong Start:  Nearly every learner signed up for their check-in time before Session 3 began and has been taking responsibility to show up on their assigned day and time. This proactive planning has made for one of our smoothest session starts yet!

  • Excitement Over New Badges: The new badge options unveiled this week sparked real enthusiasm. Learners are exploring new passions and planning creative ways to demonstrate mastery.

  • Promises in Action: Learners aren’t just remembering their studio promises, they’re living them. When challenges arise, they’re working through them together with maturity and respect. That’s true self-direction in action!

  • Quality & Accountability Rising: Learners are finding their rhythm with understanding expectations for work submissions. Our Greenlighting Committee officially launched this week at 100% capacity, helping ensure quality control and faster turnaround times on badge approvals.

  • Leadership & Initiative:

    • Shoutout to Tai for spearheading this year’s Yearbook Committee, a creative, collaborative leadership role that brings the studio together.

    • Applause to Shriya and Amara for staying on top of college admissions deadlines, researching processes thoroughly, and approaching every step with excellence.

    • Recognition to Fall Creek learners for creating a collective 10-hour service project to fulfill their Servant Leader badge. What an incredible act of initiative and problem-solving.

    • Kudos to Reyan and Lucia for designing brand new learner created badges. What a way to take charge of your own learning journey!

  • Guide Focus This Session:  In response to your valuable Session 2 feedback, Guides will be encouraging stronger badge completion this session while continuing to nurture independence, accountability, and reflection.

✨ Thank you, families, for your honest, respectful, and detailed feedback. It’s far more powerful for learners to hear how others experience them in real, professional settings than for guides to simply tell them what to do. Together, we’re helping them grow into thoughtful, capable leaders.

Family Conversation Starters:

  • Which new badge are you most excited to explore this session—and why?

  • How have you lived out the studio promises this week?

  • What does it mean to “work it out to resolution” when there’s a disagreement?

  • How can being part of the Greenlighting Committee help learners lead and take ownership?

  • What did you learn from the feedback your guides or peers gave you last session?
