Self-Directed Learning Family Agreement

  1. Being on our own journey as parents and caregivers of a self-directed learner:

    • We long for our learner to discover a calling that will change the world, as promised in The Forest School Online’s mission. We will allow our learner to fail early, cheaply, and as often as necessary without taking control of their agency as the primary director of their own learning. When our learner struggles, we will respond in a way that supports the model of self-directed learning, using the resources within the Family Handbook for guidance.

    • We welcome The Forest School Online as a self-paced environment where learners run the Studios through the delegation of certain rights by staff and parents, with access to dozens of experts for instruction, allowing Guides to focus on facilitating an engaging set of challenges and questions.

    • We will celebrate our learner's progress in achieving their weekly goals, Badges, courses, and Mastery Credits according to the Badge Plan they create in consultation with us.

    • We will remain lifelong learners and discuss our own active learning project (such as a book or self-improvement project) with our learner.

  2. We will meet with our learner at the end of every Session, either for a Parent Conference or for the Mid-/After-Action Review. Our learner will lead these.

  3. We will develop and upload a Family Plan that shares our family goals with the school community, and we will discuss our progress in family meetings throughout the year.

  4. We will do our best to attend all of the Parent Coffees scheduled throughout the school year as a way to deepen our practice with the self-directed model of learning and strengthen our relationships with fellow parents at The Forest School Online.

Family Handbook Agreement

As parents or caregivers of a Forest School Online learner…

  1. We have reviewed the Family Handbook with our learner in an effort to promote a better understanding of The Forest School Online's model for self-directed learning.

  2. We understand that the section on student behavior is the School Board policy that our learner is expected to follow at all times in the school.

  3. We understand that the Family Handbook and policies may be amended during the year.

  4. We understand our learner and family are responsible for knowing and complying with The Forest School Online's policies and procedures when conducting any business as members of The Forest School Online.

  5. We agree to the Family Handbook and the policies and procedures contained within.

Tuition Agreement

As the parent or caregiver who is financially responsible for tuition and whose electronic signature is submitted below, I have read the Tuition Terms & Schedule and agree to pay the full amount of tuition less any scholarship award my family has received. I further agree to be liable for the timely payment of all sums due based on the payment plan I have selected from the dropdown menu below.

Electronic Signature Agreement. By selecting the "Submit" button, I am signing this contract electronically. I agree my electronic signature is the legal equivalent of my manual signature on this contract. By selecting "Submit" I consent to be legally bound by this contract’s terms and conditions. I further agree that my use of a key pad, mouse, or other device to select an item, button, icon or similar act/action, or in accessing or making any transaction regarding any agreement, acknowledgement, consent terms, disclosures or conditions constitutes my signature (hereafter referred to as "E-Signature"), acceptance and agreement as if actually signed by me in writing. I also agree that no certification authority or other third party verification is necessary to validate my E-Signature and that the lack of such certification or third party verification will not in any way affect the enforceability of my E-Signature or any resulting contract between me and The Forest Schools, Inc. I also represent that I am authorized to enter into this contract for all persons who own or are authorized to access any of my accounts and that such persons will be bound by the terms of this contract. I further agree that each use of my E-Signature constitutes my agreement to be bound by the terms and conditions of the Family-Owner Contract as they exist on the date of my E-Signature.
