Announcing Our New Quests For Session six!

From Art to Coding, Apprenticeships to Electricity! Session 6 is set to unveil a wealth of new discoveries and knowledge for our Learners!

More details below…

Spark (ages 5-7)

Introducing the Art In Motion Quest!

Art in Motion will take us around the globe to discover various forms of art. Art can help us be creative, music can lift us up, writing is therapy, a painting can stimulate curiosity, and any work of art will help us appreciate beauty. We will work closely with our art Guide Shelly as we explore and observe the many forms of art.

Elementary (ages 8-10)

Introducing the Coding Quest!

What will 2050 look like? Will advancements in technology improve our quality of life? Will advancements in the future improve our quality of life? Is the automation of our lives helping us, or hurting us? For this Quest, heroes embark on a journey to form opinions to some of these questions and learn the basics of coding. This journey will include:

  • Gaining a basic understanding of programming concepts and how they apply to the real world in non-coding scenarios (concepts include algorithms, loops, conditionals, variables, and events)

  • Honing and developing problem-solving skills through “debugging”

  • Developing an awareness and curiosity about the role technology currently plays and will play in their lives

  • Learning about innovators and disruptors throughout history in various technology-related fields

Heroes will explore and better understand the technology around us, while learning skills for the future, and becoming the next creators and innovators!

Middle School (Ages 10 - 14)

Introducing the Electricity Quest!

As recent events in Texas and elsewhere have showcased, building a power grid that can support the city of the future is a top design challenge for urban planners. In this Quest, learners will have the chance to deeply explore electricity and quantum mechanics, and put theory to concrete use by constructing functioning 21st-century cities. Throughout, they’ll be challenged to function as effective teams - setting goals, dividing work, and managing projects in the face of uncertainty and aggressive deadlines.

The question guiding this Quest: “Are great cities planned, or do they emerge through trial and error?”

Goals:

  • To understand more intimately one of the most powerful and ubiquitous resources in the world.

  • To stand in the shoes of a mayor or city planner, balance wants and needs of different residents, and ultimately build a great city.

  • To be able to work as a team to advise city planners and electrical engineers on a current electricity challenge they are facing.

High School (Ages 14 - 18)

Introducing the Apprenticeship Quest!

Imagine a world where high school students have the opportunity to identify, research, and secure meaningful apprenticeships in a position where they can hone in on their greatest gifts, explore new industries, companies and assignments that will advance them towards finding their calling. Welcome to Session 6, Apprenticeship Quest! This session heroes will embark on completing four twenty-hour apprenticeships over the course of six weeks. One might ask, how do I find and get the right apprenticeship opportunities?

The goals of this session are to:

  1. Define who I am and what I want to explore

  2. Identify opportunities to explore further

  3. Learn and practice the communication process for obtaining an apprenticeship

  4. Obtain an apprenticeship

  5. Execute on promises and potentially receive a letter of recommendation

Exhibition: This session's Exhibition will be an all encompassing of heroes After Action Reviews in which heroes will present their progress to the Dream Teams in addition to showcasing their comedic storytelling skills.
