Apprentice Guide and Math Specialist (full time, in-person)

Position:

  • Full-time, in person

  • Work in person with an incredible team

  • Learn the role of Guide with the goal of becoming a full time elementary or middle school Guide in the future

  • Audit, improve, and lead the school’s elementary math assessment program

  • Work with learners from ages 4 to 18, but specializing in grades 2 through 8

  • The position begins immediately and is an 11-month program. We run on 4-7 week Sessions with 1-2 week breaks in between Sessions

Description: 

  1. Learning to lead learners on a hero’s journey

  • Learning to facilitate a truly customized education for each learner in the Studio with daily  learner challenges, Socratic seminars, and launches 

  • Learning to facilitate character building experiences in an intentionally diverse environment.

  • Learning to facilitate weekly 1-1 check-ins with every learner

  • Learning to build and sustain a thriving  community with all learners through consistent communication and activities that build culture

  • Learning to observe and track each child’s progress via the online platform

  • Affirming young learners, holding them accountable to their promises and to their commitment to deliver “the best work they can do” as they discover and pursue a calling

  • Acting as a role model as an independent learner on their own hero’s journey

  • Pass along each of these responsibilities to learners as quickly as possible, so as to allow learners to lead themselves

  • Substituting for Guides, and other administrative duties from time to time

  2. Developing the elementary math program

  • Auditing, improving, and implementing the elementary math program

  • Identifying or building pre- and post-assessments, remediation structures, and customized supports for self directed learners

  • Meeting weekly with the Guides and bi-weekly with the Head of School

  • Publishing our findings as an innovative start-up on our school’s blog, website, and other media sources in the broader education system as appropriate

  3. Uphold the Guide Competency Framework in all aspects of the role
