Session 6 Week in Review - Week 25
Zoom Gatherings
Some highlights from Zoom Gatherings this week included:
Monday: Monday, learners engaged in several more rounds of Scattergories that we didn’t get to last week. Congrats to Yagna and Aziza for being the winners in their breakout rooms!
Tuesday: Tuesday, David facilitated a learner-led launch on influencers and how they use their platform. We had an amazing discussion about the responsibility influencers have to help or harm, and how that affects society as a whole.
Wednesday: Wednesday’s Skill-Builder was part 2 of the new series on Research & Citations. This week we focused on documenting and saving research sources to be used later for reference and citations, and began discussing how to organize research notes. We look forward to diving deeper next week!
Thursday: Thursday’s Young Change Maker launch featured Gitanjali Rao, who designed technology to detect lead contamination in water, and an AI-app called Kindly, that coaches people on how to re-write messages to prevent bullying. The Studio discussed when digital “protection” can cross into censoring and control of free speech.
Week 25 Highlights
This week brought exciting progress, strong engagement, and some great celebrations across the studio!
New Badge Plan Checklist Launch: Learners have begun transitioning to the newly updated Badge Plan Checklist, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive. Being able to quickly see progress at a glance, cross items off the list, and access session notes in the corresponding tabs has already made planning and tracking work smoother and more satisfying.
Engaging Socratic Launch: Kudos to David for leading a super engaging launch this week. His scenario sparked thoughtful discussion and got the studio talking!
Cameras Up, Community Strong: We’ve noticed more and more learners showing up to Zoom launches with their cameras on, which makes a huge difference in building connection, engagement, and studio culture. Thank you for continuing to lean in!
Creative Excellence: Shoutout to Zhang Guhuai for his impressive Rocket Launch and Landing simulation video, created as part of his Story Arts credit this year. The creativity and technical detail in the project were outstanding!
Thank You for Re-Enrolling: Finally, a heartfelt thank you to the families who have already shared their re-enrollment plans. Knowing how many learners will be returning helps us plan for the year ahead and determine how many new learners we can welcome into the FSO community.
It’s exciting to see systems improving, creativity flourishing, and the community growing stronger week by week. Well done, FSO!
