Session 4 Week in Review - Week 16

Zoom Gatherings

Some highlights from Zoom Gatherings this week included:

  • They say a picture says a thousand words. Well, during Monday’s Community Builder had learners work in groups to create a very simple story that they could tell using only their Zoom background images. Then, they paired with another team to see if the team could guess their story from images only.

  • Tuesday’s launch was facilitated by David. He presented his learner-led launch on a scenario that had his peers weighing the importance of pay, comfort, passion, and entrepreneurship in a career. It was a great launch and the Studio was highly engaged in discussion!

  • Wednesday we had our next launch on a series of Skill-Builders related to learning modalities. Guides led “fishbowl” activities to help guide learners through how to navigate evaluating work and providing quality evidence of how they completed the Evaluate task. Learners asked great questions, proving they desire to submit work with excellence!

  • Thursday’s young changemaker launch was based on the story of Alma Deutscher, a talented musician who faced backlash over her musical style. Learners discussed when mentorship is advice versus when it can be pressure to conform, as well as if staying true to yourself can ever be a disadvantage.

Week 16 Highlights

This week highlighted thoughtful dialogue, courageous thinking, and exciting milestones across our studio:

  • Socratic Leadership: Congratulations to David for leading a strong and engaging Socratic launch. His questions invited deep thinking and respectful dialogue across the studio.

  • Young Changemaker Insights: Shoutout to Emery for sharing especially insightful perspectives during our Young Changemaker launch, helping peers connect big ideas to real-world impact.

  • Challenging Perspectives: Kudos to Yagna for thoughtfully challenging ideas during David’s launch. Asking hard questions and pushing thinking forward is a powerful act of leadership.

  • Celebrating Big Dreams: A huge congratulations to Amara on her acceptance to the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD)! 🎉 This is an exciting recognition of her creativity, dedication, and persistence.

Weeks like this remind us that learning isn’t just about completing work—it’s about finding your voice, listening deeply, and taking brave steps toward your future. Well done, FSO!
